Rocky Mountain Lindy Festival doesn’t use level placements or auditions. Everyone begins together in the All Levels class. After that, dancers who want more challenge may join Intermediate/Advanced, while dancers who prefer All Levels material can join Jason Warner’s All Levels Double Bug series, which runs at the same time as Intermediate/Advanced. Choose the pace and style that support your learning.
No — you don’t choose a level when registering. Your pass includes all workshops, and you decide which sessions to attend in the moment based on what feels right for your dancing.
Each morning starts with All Levels in one big room. After that, dancers may join Intermediate/Advanced, or head to Jason Warner’s All Levels Double Bug series in the second room.Afternoons bring everyone back together for another All Levels class, followed by Intermediate/Advanced in one room.
These workshops are designed for dancers of different experience levels to enjoy and learn together — including newer dancers and beginners. Steve & Chanzie focus on Hollywood Style movement, technique, musicality, connection, and the details that make the dance feel great. More experienced dancers will also find plenty to work on and explore.
These workshops move at a faster pace and explore more challenging material and deeper technique. They assume a solid foundation in Lindy Hop, including basic rhythm, connection, and movement. There are no auditions, and if you're unsure whether the level is right for you, you're welcome to audit the class. If you find the material a bit too challenging, that's okay! You're welcome to stay, watch, and record the recap so you can practice it later.
Double Bug is a fun, energetic trio dance with one leader and two followers, and it's open to all levels. Jason Warner will teach the fundamentals of the dance, including how to share space, connect as a trio, and create dynamic movement together. Double Bug runs during the Intermediate/Advanced workshops, giving newer dancers an opportunity to learn something fun and different while those classes are taking place.
