How do the workshop levels work?

Rocky Mountain Lindy Festival doesn’t use level placements or auditions. Everyone begins together in the All Levels class. After that, dancers who want more challenge may join Intermediate/Advanced, while dancers who prefer All Levels material can join Jason Warner’s All Levels Double Bug series, which runs at the same time as Intermediate/Advanced. Choose the pace and style that support your learning.

No — you don’t choose a level when registering. Your pass includes all workshops, and you decide which sessions to attend in the moment based on what feels right for your dancing.

Each morning starts with All Levels in one big room. After that, dancers may join Intermediate/Advanced, or head to Jason Warner’s All Levels Double Bug series in the second room.Afternoons bring everyone back together for another All Levels class, followed by Intermediate/Advanced in one room.

Our All Levels classes are taught by Steve & Chanzie in their signature Hollywood Style — full of rhythm play, sharp shapes, dynamic movement, and classic LA flair.   These sessions are not “beginner material”; they’re foundational technique taught through their unique style, and dancers of every level — including Intermediate/Advanced — will come away with useful, inspiring tools for their dancing.All Levels classes are designed for every dancer: brand‑new, returning, or experienced. Our Intermediate/Advanced classes are designed for dancers with solid swing fundamentals who are ready for a faster pace, deeper technique, and more challenging material.These sessions assume comfort with:Core Lindy Hop basicsRhythm and musicalityPartner connectionMoving confidently through patterns and variationsNo auditions, no level tests.   If you feel ready for more challenge, you’re welcome to join.If you’re not quite ready yet, you may audit the Int/Adv classes — sit, watch, take notes, and learn at your own pace while the class stays on track for dancers ready for the material.During the Int/Adv sessions, the second room offers Jason Warner’s All Levels Double Bug series, which any dancer may join.

Double Bug is one of the most fun and visually exciting trio dances in swing — one lead dancing with two follows at the same time.   At Rocky Mountain Lindy Festival, Jason Warner teaches a special All Levels Double Bug series during the Intermediate/Advanced workshop times on both Saturday and Sunday.This series is:All Levels — anyone may joinFun, energetic, and accessibleTaught by Jason Warner, known for clear instruction and playful choreographyOffered in the second room while Int/Adv runs in the main roomIf you prefer to stay in All Levels material instead of joining the faster‑paced Int/Adv class, Double Bug is a perfect option — welcoming, upbeat, and a great way to learn something unique.
